Installing components in the PC case is the second lab in Eniun PC Lab, an educational PC assembly simulator. It continues with the ASUS PRIME B760-PLUS D4 prepared in Motherboard assembly: the processor, the two RAM modules, the M.2 SSD and the CPU cooler are already installed.
We recommend finishing Motherboard assembly first. That way you follow the build from the preparation of its components. You can start here directly if you prefer: it is not an access requirement.
1. Components in this lab
- ASUS PRIME B760-PLUS D4 motherboard. With the CPU, 2 RAM modules, M.2 SSD and CPU cooler already installed.
- 550 W ATX power supply. Orientation, placement and mounting.
- 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS CPU connections. Identifying them and connecting them to the motherboard.
- Front-panel buttons and indicators. POWER SW, RESET SW, HDD LED, POWER LED, USB and HD AUDIO.
- 120 mm rear fan. Already secured to the case. Four-contact PWM connection to CHA_FAN1.
- ASUS TUF GTX 1650 SUPER graphics card. Placement in PCIEX16, mounting and 6-pin PCIe power.
2. What you will learn
- Check the chassis standoffs and how they line up with the motherboard mounting holes.
- Point the input and output ports toward the rear opening of the chassis.
- Insert the motherboard with a guided movement, line it up and rest it on the standoffs.
- Secure the motherboard to the chassis with the screws and screwdriver.
- Install and secure the power supply and tell apart its 24-pin ATX and CPU 4+4 cables to connect them to the motherboard.
- Connect POWER SW, RESET SW and the HDD LED and POWER LED indicators, observing the polarity of the indicators.
- Connect USB, HD AUDIO and the rear fan to their matching headers.
- Install and secure the graphics card and connect its 6-pin PCIe power.
- Route the cables and close the case with the side panel and its thumbscrews.
3. Before placing the motherboard
Check the standoffs: they must line up with the holes in the motherboard and none should be left over underneath. They keep the motherboard raised so it doesn't rest directly on the metal. Hold the assembly by the edges of the motherboard.
4. Order of this lab
- Install the motherboard. Check the standoffs, orient the motherboard, insert it through the open side and line up its holes with the supports before seating it.
- Secure the motherboard. Once it is resting and lined up, use the screws and screwdriver. Tighten until firm, without forcing.
- Install the power supply. Drag the power supply to the lower bay. The simulator orients it toward this case's vent; then secure it with four screws.
- Connect the power. Identify the 24-pin ATX cable and the 8-pin CPU 4+4 cable, and connect them to their inputs on the motherboard with the latch lined up.
- Connect the front panel. Connect the power and reset buttons and the two indicators to PANEL. The LEDs have a positive and a negative.
- Connect front USB and audio. Line up the USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HD AUDIO guides with their inputs on the motherboard.
- Connect the rear fan. The fan is already secured to the case. Connect its four-contact PWM cable to CHA_FAN1.
- Install the graphics card. Remove the matching rear covers, seat the ASUS TUF GTX 1650 SUPER in PCIEX16, secure it to the chassis and connect the 6-pin block of the PCIe 6+2 cable.
- Route the cables. Click any of the indicated bundles to gather and secure them, leaving slack and the blades clear.
- Close the case. Slide the side panel into its guides and tighten its two rear thumbscrews.
This is the simulator's path. For a real computer, check the motherboard, chassis and power supply manuals; the assembly order and conditions depend on the computer.
We recommend using Eniun PC Lab on a laptop or desktop computer. Assembly needs screen space; on phones and tablets, some actions may be difficult or may not work properly.
The case and some volumes are simplified representations for educational purposes. The lab lets you install and secure the motherboard, power supply and graphics card, connect their power and the front-panel buttons, indicators, USB and audio and the rear fan, route the cables and close the side panel; your progress is saved automatically in this browser. External connections and first startup will be added later. Don't connect the computer to the mains yet.
